Luminaire

For our last project we had to put together a luminaire. I used materials that I have used in past projects consisting of skewers ribbon and paper. I wanted to create a light that showed a glow and then came into a harsh light toward the bottom. My ideation was light shining through the trees. The pictures shown above are examples of this.

My first creation was made where the bottom was smaller than the top and i used a translucent paper so that the light would shine through. Then I added multiple colored tissue paper on the outside to try and capture the glow of color through the leaves. This was not so successful.

After finding that is did not work too well I changed my idea. I made a more latern shape with green and white paper. The paper was green on the inside and white on the outside. This created the green glow. Then I used the skewers to hold up the paper so it wasnt so flemsy. In order to have the glow turn into the harsh light I made a funnel around the light.

Below are the results of my luminaire.

Peach multi-view

For one of our assignments we had to do a multi view of a fruit. The fruit I chose was a peach. Shown below is my elevation of this fruit, with detail.

cellphone and sticks

3. For my 3rd drawing I saw mainly circles and lines. With the lines been curvelinear it made me think of lines that just continued in different directions but all connected. The circle made me think of a black ball but also the top of a black straw or tube. With my 3-D object I created a continuous piece of paper for the lines that made a circular shape. Then for the black circle/ straw line ending I created black tubes that fed in the negative space of the strips of paper.

Below shows my 3-D object explained above.

4. My 4th drawing reminded me of curves in a road, with the arrows pointing people in certain directions. For my 3-D object I went off of this concept and created 4 arrows in which all curved downward.

Below are different views of my 3-D arrows.

cellphones and sticks

1. first image of the 4 out of our sticks and cellphone drawings. I took this drawing, and made a 3-D model out of what I saw. The triangle figure with stripes was what stood out to me the most. Therefore my model was based on this specific part of the drawing.

Below will be a couple images of the final product.

2. My second image reminded me a river or body of water with streams going off to the side. I used this to create a vase that has a black and white wavy/watery feel.

Below are some pictures of the 3-D figure displaying my interpretation of my 2nd drawing.

sticks and skewers in the making

Here is the parti with my ideas of my skewers and paper project.

This is my first attempt at my project. It is my trial and error much smaller than the actual project will end up being.

skewers and paper

This is my layout sketch of my idea of the layout of my skewers and paper project. It is using the idea of being a bench.

This is the first draft of my project. I used notecard to get the 4x 6 paper and experiment.

I feel as though my final project turned out nicely.

box and straws

with the 2 above i started with 6 slits that i fed the straw through and the base did not connect. I realized that it was not very sturdy and that I should find a different way to do the base. Also, I felt there needed to be more slits. This led me to my revision below.

As you can see i put 2 more slits where there is now 8. This seems more proportional. Also I added a straw that connects the 2 bases straws. This creates a better sense of balance and stands a lot more sturdy.
